No person wants to think that they are inefficient or ineffective. That the programs they are championing are not the best plan. People care and will use whatever skills and tools that are available to them to make their projects, plans, and policies as successful as possible. However, there are many ways to get the results that are desired and multiple opinions u=on the best way to proceed. There are many people out there that have spent time educating themselves to be experts in the field of efficiency. Multiple areas led to being an expert in efficiency, math, business, engineering, it does not belong to one particular vertical. An understanding of statistics and long-term project management is essential. This allows a person who is looking to implement a project that will improve efficiency or a plan that differs from a previous plan by emphasizing improving performance through better efficiency. However, there are certain applications that will allow people to shortcut to the effective and efficient results they want. I will talk about some of the ones that I use in this post and in a later post I will talk about some of the tools that I see as a major game changer for the future of businesses.
Tools for personal life: Wunderlist, it is a list that you can use on your mobile device or on your desktop. A list is only good if you check it. Some people abhor lists but I find they help me immensely whatever form they take. I consider how I layout my house as a list and if I follow that list I will not waste time in the morning searching for car keys, I will always know where my favorite sweater is, and I will probably be able to find my significant other’s sunglasses for them because I followed my list and put them back where they belong according to the internal house list. I know this may sound silly but bear with me, how I layout my desk is a list, paperwork always goes in the same spot, with a different area for house, school, and work so that I always know where to find the items I am looking for.
To me lists are digital and physical. This person reviews and explains the best parts of Wunderlist here. I use Wunderlist in conjunction with excel/google sheets, and for the big projects like remodeling the house or converting a sprinter van I bring out the heavy tools like Quickplan or Omniplan. Wunderlist is great for packing lists, chores, groceries, especially since I am able to share these lists with others and share the load fairly. When, I have a slightly more in-depth project like the itinerary plan and booking plan I put together for the upcoming trip me and my partner are taking. I am able to form these plans in excel or google sheets, I can map out the timeline, include confirmation numbers and documents that are important for the trip and by having it all in one place and planned out I reduce what I need to worry about during the trip. This doesn’t preclude being spontaneous but it allows more spontaneity because I know I already took care of the details that matter. Omniplan and Quickplan are great for the long-term projects that I need to include dependencies, budget, and timeline. On these projects, I am spending money that I can’t afford to waste so planning out the project is extremely important to me. In the sprinter van project, I have dependencies that I need to track because I have no idea how to patch hole in the side of a van and if I do something in the wrong order that is what I could be faced with.
These different sorts of lists and tools increase my efficiency, effectiveness, and equitability between myself and my partner. By using these tools, I allow myself more freedom for living life.
P.S.: There is news that Wunderlist is closing down but it is still currently up and running and you can get a free account.
